Spinal Subluxation

Studies reveal that nearly everyone has subluxations in their spine; it is a “hidden epidemic.” For that reason you and your family need to have your spines checked periodically by a doctor of chiropractic – just as you get your eyes, teeth and blood pressure checked! Why has chiropractic become so popular? It is because doctors of chiropractic are the only professionals trained to locate and correct the vertebral subluxation complex. If you have one, you cannot be truly healthy.

The Vertebral Subluxation Complex

The vertebral subluxation complex (VSC) is technically an abstraction. Most definitions of the VSC say it consists of a spinal bone out of place interfering with brain / nerve function.
The VSC causes body malfunction (dis-ease) which can lead to lowered resistance to disease, pain, imbalance and fatigue and can pave the way for ill health. It is sometimes called the “silent killer” because it can slowly eat away at your health and vitality for years without having the slightest awareness of it.

What Causes Subluxations?

Subluxations are caused by stress of all kinds: accidents, falls, sports injuries, poor posture, sitting or working in the same positions for long periods, birth stress and other trauma. Even emotional stress can suddenly knock us “out of whack.” Adults can carry subluxations in their bodies that were originally caused by a stressful birth or a childhood fall. Unless they have a chiropractic spinal checkup these long-standing subluxations may never be corrected. They may develop physical and / or emotional disease or body malfunction and subsequent health problems due to these long-standing subluxations. Infants and children need to have their spines checked by a doctor of chiropractic as neurological and other health problems have been traced to spinal damage at birth or in infancy.

Correcting Subluxations

Subluxations are so common that they can be considered an epidemic – nearly everyone has them. It is sometimes said that if you suffer from neck and back pain you’re lucky – you are aware of a spinal problems and will (hopefully) go to a doctor of chiropractic for a spinal checkup. The chiropractor will not only check the areas in pain, but will throw in a “bonus” and check your entire spinal column for subluxations, even the areas that don’t hurt.

Subluxations are often painless, so periodic spinal examinations should be part of every family’s healthcare routine. Correcting silent subluxations today might save you and your family from conditions that, later in life, could not possibly be ignored.
